Miami Beach has had it on Lincoln Road. In early November, Broward gets its own.
DaVinci Gelato is opening a second shop at 100 Commercial Blvd in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, a short walk from the beach and the pier. The original shop at 645 Lincoln Road in Miami Beach stays exactly where it is. The new one brings the same Italian-inspired gelato and the full dessert menu north to Broward County.
DaVinci Gelato is a Nephesh Media client, so we have spent a lot of time behind that display case. This is what we would tell a friend about why it is worth the visit.
The quick facts
- What: DaVinci Gelato, an Italian-inspired gelato and dessert shop
- New location: 100 Commercial Blvd, Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, Florida
- Opening: early November 2026, exact date to be announced
- Original location: 645 Lincoln Road, Miami Beach
- Known for: gelato made with 100% grass-fed A2/A2 cow's milk and buffalo milk, and real named ingredients
It starts with the milk
Most gelato and ice cream starts from a standard commercial dairy base. DaVinci builds its gelato on two milks that most shops never use.
A2/A2 cow's milk
The traditional gelato is made fresh daily with 100% grass-fed, pasture-raised A2/A2 cow's milk. It is written on the wall of the shop: non-GMO, chemical-free, grain-free, steroid-free, soy-free and hormone-free, sweetened with organic cane sugar. You taste it before you read about it: the gelato is clean and creamy without being heavy.
Buffalo milk
DaVinci also has a buffalo milk gelato line, the milk behind Italy's best-known mozzarella. It is naturally richer, and DaVinci shares these figures for buffalo milk compared with regular cow's milk:
- 40% more protein
- 58% more calcium
- 30% less sugar
- 43% less cholesterol
In DaVinci's words: pure, powerful, naturally better.
Churned fresh, in small batches
The gelato is churned fresh in small batches from Italian-inspired recipes. Gelato is churned slower than ice cream, so it holds less air and is served a little warmer. That is why the texture is denser and the flavor arrives faster. The shop's own line says it well: before ice cream, there was gelato.
Real ingredients, named on the menu
The flavor names are not "inspired by" anything. They are made with the real thing, and the menu says so:
- Pistachio made with 100% pistachio
- The Chocolate Collection made with Valrhona chocolate
- Ferrero Rocher, Kinder Bueno, Lotus Biscoff, Nutella and Snickers flavors made with the real candy
- Cheesecake flavors made with Philadelphia
- Organic Vanilla Madagascar made with 100% Madagascar vanilla
- Classics like tiramisu, hazelnut and stracciatella
Flavors rotate and may vary by location and availability.
Something for everyone at the table
- Sorbets made with real fruit, such as mango, lemon, strawberry, coconut and passion fruit
- No-added-sugar gelato for anyone watching sugar
- Dozens of traditional gelato flavors for everyone else
A group with one sorbet lover, one person cutting sugar and two kids who want chocolate can all order from the same case.
More than a scoop
DaVinci is a dessert shop as much as a gelato shop. The menu also has:
- Crepes and pancakes
- Waffles and waffle bites
- Bubble waffle cones
- Gelato donuts
- Shakes
- Custom gelato cakes
There is also a gelato cart that can be booked for weddings, birthdays and corporate events.
Why gelato in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea
Lauderdale-by-the-Sea is one of the most walkable beach towns in South Florida. Commercial Boulevard runs straight to the sand and the pier, and people stroll it after dinner all year. That is the same habit that made Lincoln Road work: a walk, a view, and something sweet in your hand. A gelato shop a short walk from the sand fits the town, and it puts fresh gelato within a few minutes of Fort Lauderdale, Pompano Beach and the rest of Broward.
